A Book of Gold (Metal) Leaf Sheets
The picture above show a book of gold leaf sheets. These are not actually gold but are a more cost effective gold coloured metal leaf, made of various metal alloys. We use metal leaf as it helps us to offer affordable decorations.
Application
Application is a relatively simple a process. A purpose made adhesive is applied to the item, which is then left to dry. Once the adhesive is partially dried the gold leaf is carefully applied. Excess gold leaf is then brushed or vacuumed away. Finally the item is lacquered to prevent oxidization and eventually discolouring.

What to Expect
You can expect a very shiny / reflective finish which is fairly consistent across the item in question. There are often small areas without gold leaf cover. This generally adds to the rustic feel of the Christmas decoration. This is why we never try to patch these areas.
The gold area is lacquered to prevent oxidization. This treatment ensures your gilded item will be shiny and bright for years to come.
